An oval stone sits at the centre of this pendant with a full halo of small clear stones set around it. The green reads deep and cool against warm gold, which is the contrast the whole piece is built on.

Halo settings have been used for centuries for one practical reason. The outer ring catches light first and pushes the eye inward, so the centre stone looks larger and more saturated than it would alone.
