A thick open hoop, with a single pearl swinging beneath it.

The hoop is heavy and highly polished, cut so it stops short of closing. The pearl hangs from the lower curve on a small link, which lets it turn freely rather than sitting fixed against the gold.

Pearls are grown rather than cut, so each one has its own shape and its own surface. Set against something this solid, that softness is the whole point of the pairing.
